Metalworking coolant often carries a steady amount of iron chips and small metal particles back to the tank. When these solids are not removed in time, they can settle around pumps, clog nozzles, or increase the load on finer filtration equipment. Amho Magnetic Roller Separator is used as a straightforward way to remove ferrous material before the coolant continues through the recycling system.

The working principle is fairly simple. A stainless steel drum rotates slowly while a fixed magnetic assembly remains inside the drum. Ferrous chips in the flowing coolant are attracted to the drum surface and lifted out of the liquid as the drum turns. Most of the coolant drains back into the tank during this movement. Near the discharge area, the magnetic attraction becomes weaker, allowing a scraper to remove the collected chips.

This arrangement is particularly useful on machining lines where coolant is running continuously. Because there is no filter mesh that needs to be washed after it becomes loaded with chips, operators can avoid one of the more routine cleaning jobs associated with conventional screening equipment. The separated material is discharged continuously, while the coolant can return to the next stage of treatment.

The housing is made from polished stainless steel, and the magnetic core is kept inside the drum rather than exposed directly to the working liquid. A low-speed geared motor provides the drum rotation. This makes the equipment relatively simple to incorporate into individual machine tools, coolant tanks, or centralized recycling systems.

In practice, the separator is mainly suited to applications where the contamination is magnetic. It is often installed with lathes, milling machines, tube-processing equipment, stamping lines, and other metalworking machinery that produces ferrous chips. For mixed contaminants such as non-magnetic particles or very fine solids, it is normally used together with other filtration methods rather than as the only treatment stage.
